rain...are the gods crying?

It all ended. It's supposed to be a beautiful week... my mum came to visit; everything's going well; I was happy. But it just had to happen. I was too tired... too exhausted to continue anymore. It was almost like the San Andreas fault. Two plates constantly rubbing against each other. Every other day, there's a build-up of tension. Finally, one of them gave way. *earthquake*

I don't know. Am I too scared to walk the same trail again? Am I to be blamed for having no guts? I don't wanna think... I don't wanna think about it anymore. All I plead is for a break... for me to rest.

It's already the End of June

The title says it all. Time really flies. Before I realise it, I've been waking up everyday at 0745 to take the subway downtown for work. This is an incredible feat, considering I never used to be able to get up even for the 1030 classes. *sorry* Alright, I'll make an effort to be more hardworking next semester. Somehow, the resolution has never failed to be included everytime.
Recently, I've been starting on this East Asian Studies 'craze'. At one point I was insane enough to be evem thinking of doing a 4-1 dual degree. It's not the dual degree requirement that scares me. If you don't know about Columbia, it is really 'hard CORE'. This means that apart from major requirements, one has to fulfill the liberal arts core requirements too. If I decide on the 4-1, I would have to complete the entire CORE on top of thesis and everything else. I mean...I'd love to read the classics and philosophical papers for knowledge. But taking it for a course seriously and writing essays after essays about it... I don't think it's worth so much of my time. So eventually, I think I would end up only doing the minor in East Asian studies on top of whatever else I have.
I am pretty excited. Columbia has a great East Asian Studies faculty. One of the best in the country, if not the best. East Asian civilization is so fascinating! I've always loved studying the history of imperial China. And also to encorporate Korea and Japan into the picture. I'm not sure how to put this feeling into words... I'm not even sure if anyone else gets the same feeling as I do. Learning about all the history and culture of China really makes me exclaim about what mysterious land it is.
Not to let mention, I've been on a drama watching craze since the summer hols started. Mainly HK TVB dramas, Korean and Japanese ones too. First to amaze me was Gokusen 2 (Japanese). The fun thing about watching Japanese drama is that, since I've been learning Japanese for 2 years, I could actually understand parts of it. Maybe 50%?! For this drama it's not that difficult 'cos there's a lot of casual speech involved among the teenagers. Next, there's the Korean FULL HOUSE. Song Hye Gyo is so pretty and Rain is so cute! You've gotta watch this if you like funny love stories. As for the TVB dramas, there are always many good ones. TVB is really known for writing stories about police, lawyers, doctors, and rival between rich families. The best in the Chinese entertainment business I would say. Last but not the least, there's the ancient dramas!!! I'm now watching 'di nu hua', an adaptation from Chinese opera about a Ming dynasty princess called Chang Ping. A moving love story.
I realised that I've been writing longer and longer. I'll finish up=) I've always been interested in the Qing dynasty. Now I guess there's more to read up!

Summer

Yes 6 Flags! As promised, Tiff and I eventually did go on a weekday. When we got there, the first reaction was... 'Gosh there's just so many high school kids on graduation trips or something.' For a moment, it felt so weird. We were kinda stuck in the middle. We were NOT kids; we were NOT tourists; and we were definitely NOT adults bringing their kids along. It all felt really different from NYC. Here, I rarely feel out of place. So while we were in-line waiting for our rides, we were talking about all these differences, how it's so great to live in the city. WE LOVE NEW YORK CITY!!!

We sat KINGDA KA! The tallest, fastest ride in the world. Cool... the wait was horrible but the ride was excellent. We were totally freaked while sitting, waiting for it to rocket up, but when it actually did, it wasn't as scary as we've thought. It's awesome. The other rides like Batman & Medusa were awesome too. Just a note of advice, don't take the Scream Machine! (it causes concussions to ur head & neck...bad design) We chickened out of Nitro at the last minute... just because both of us prefer rides with belts across the shoulders and Nitro doesn't have that.
The day was so hot! unbearable at times. Luckily it turned cloudy around 4. But we both got burnt nevertheless. Being in the sun for a whole day, I can't imagine how I am going to survive those weeks back in Singapore when it's gonna be hotter and much more humid.

Oh yes! last thing...gotta mention this for TIFF=) The last highlight of the say was waiting for the bus back. The wait wasn't fantastic but we were standing beside this cute 'surfer-ish' dude with ash blonde hair. He's tall, with short hair, good built... I dunno what got into us but he just simply looked cute. Not the 'oh i know i am cute' kind but the quiet and nice kinda guy. Maybe cos he doesn't look local. I thought he looked scandanavian-ish, could pass off as one of those Swedish soccer players. He might just be from Europe, or down-under. Whatever, he doesn't look American. Haha so if u or ur friend happened to be this person, pls contact us!!!
MORE DETAILS... t-shirt, hawaiian pants, addidas sneakers

Tiff's a fashion school student & would need ur help for her design project;-)
Alright, enough said for the day...
